Sketchbook Fink Angel

… and Ratty. Eldest of the Angel Gang and father of Ratfink (whose adventures you can read in the current issue of the very fine Judge Dredd Megazine).

Judge Dredd: Judgement Day

My entry for the 2000AD forum September art competition. The brief was 'Final days'. Script, art and letters by me.

Snikt! Sketchbook Wolverine

This is from when I was still managing a drawing a day. The newsprint type paper is not very brush-pen or white out friendly though I like the look and feel of the sketchbook.

Sketchbook Hulk

I always preferred the early versions of Hulk – before they made him handsome. As usual, a more rough and ready version on my Twitter account.

Sketchbook The Spirit

The Spirit – one of my favourite comic strips. I was fortunate enough to see the 'Will Eisner's New York' exhibition in NYC last year at the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art. Amongst the artwork on display was an entire comic strip shown with original artwork – stunning! I'm currently reading The Spirit 'Femmes Fatales' collection which I bought for the criminally cheap price of £3 from a local bookshop.

Slightly tidied up version shown here. I am putting the rough and ready versions on my Twitter feed.

Sketchbook Dredd

I recently bought a brush pen and a cheapo sketchbook as I felt I was neglecting drawing on paper – and when I did draw on paper it tended to be on scraps. I will make a concerted effort to knock these out regularly. The idea of the cheap sketchbook is so that I don't get precious, though the rough paper is a bit of a hindrance. First drawing was Dredd of course. And don't forget, its DREDD movie time soon.

El Bigote

I recently received a preview issue of El Bigote: A tequila-drenched reckoning by Matthew McLaughlin and El Chivo. El Bigote is a legendary mustachioed quillslinger who adventures through undead Mexico offing living-dead banditos and skeletal gunslingers. Well I liked it so much I thought I would big it up hear by doodling a bit of reader art. Go see elbigotequillpower.blogspot.co.uk and facebook.com/elbigotecomic and make sure you get yourself a copy of issue 1 when it becomes available.

Set the controls…

Can't believe this is four years old. One of my first entries for the 2000AD message board comps – which I finished at 3am after a evening out drinking. I used the halftone effect to simulate a pulpy comic feel. Kind of liked it and have used it from time to time since.

Deadlock

Nowt new, so here is a competition entry of mine from a couple of years ago for the 2000AD forum. Inked on tracing paper then tones added in Photoshop.
